Overview

HOURS OF OPERATION

We are open from 6:30 am until midnight, Monday through Friday and 8:00 am to 6:00 PM on Saturdays. Closed Sunday.

Each individual classroom has a Daily Schedule posted so parents will know exactly what their child’s routine will be throughout the day. Our basic daily schedule is breakfast at 8:15 am, lunch at 11:00 am and nap from approximately 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. After nap time, we will serve a nutritious snack. Our evening dinner is served at 6:00 pm. For the children participating in our evening care program, a snack is served at approximately 8:00 pm.

WEB CAM

Giggles Learning Center has state of the art Web Cam capabilities and it is offered to our parents so they may look in on their children’s classroom throughout the day. You may also zoom in on the entire daycare if you so desire as we have full camera coverage in each room as well as our playground and grounds. We also have the capability to playback and view specific dates and times up to 90 days as it is recorded. We are sure you will enjoy the added confidence, security, and piece of mind that this special feature of our daycare center affords you.

KEYPAD LOCK

Safety is a top priority at Giggles Learning Center. Our doors are locked at all times and parents must use an access code to enter our facility. We also have 24 hour surveillance.

NUTRITION

A nutritious breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner are prepared at the school and served daily. The weekly menus are posted in the lobby. Table manners are practiced and conversation is directed toward information about the foods served and good nutrition. Children are encouraged to enjoy mealtime as a positive social experience, while establishing healthy nutritional patterns and proper dining habits.

Snacks and lunch are provided for all children so there is no need for children to bring additional food into the school unless your child requires food for a special diet. Parents of children on a special diet must provide the school written instructions for the diet from the child's physician.

ADMISSIONS

Initial and continued enrollment will be at the discretion of Giggles Learning Center based upon the best interest of the child, the expectation that he/she will benefit from the program, and the health, safety and general welfare of the child and the other enrolled children. Enrollment shall be for children six weeks through twelve years of age without regard to race, creed, sex, or national origin.

We require, in order to comply with the state law, an immunization report Form 3231, no later than thirty (30) days after the actual attendance begins. Regular updated reports will be required as they are due.

CURRENT INFORMATION

Parents are required by state law to update information on the enrollment application as necessary. Please remember to let us know when any of your phone numbers or addresses change. This is very important!

CLOTHING

Dress your child for lots of fun and activities! The clothes should be loose and comfortable. Rubber-soled shoes are advised to avoid serious falls and are required during all activities. Please mark your child's name clearly on all articles of clothing, including shoes, so we can help prevent losses. All children, regardless of age, are required to have a complete change of clothes, including socks, with them when in the school. The staff will use these articles in case of mishap.

Parents of infants are responsible for supplying disposable diapers and diaper wipes. Parents of toddlers are responsible for supplying disposable diapers and/or "pull-ups", and diaper wipes.

Giggles Learning Center is not responsible for loss or damage of clothing.

BIRTHDAYS

You are welcome to celebrate your child's birthday at our center on his/her special day.

DISCIPLINE

Our goal is to teach our children how to behave not just for today, but for always. Discipline is geared to teach self-control and builds correct and appropriate behaviors for life. Through effective discipline techniques, we create appropriate behavior by encouraging children to make the right choices. Our teachers explain to their children what is expected of them. They are consistent with the boundaries and limits they set in the classroom and are trained to prevent discipline problems by noticing and understanding why children behave in different ways. Be assured your child will not be spanked, shaken, or humiliated in any way. If we have an extreme behavioral problem, we will ask for your assistance.

EMERGENCY CARE

In case of an emergency, we will notify you and/or your physician immediately. If you are unavailable we will notify the person(s) listed on your child's enrollment application. Finally, and only if necessary, we will enlist the aid of the 911 emergency medical assistance. First aid will be administered immediately as appropriate. Our staff is trained in CPR and First Aid. We have made emergency arrangements with Kennestone Hospital, 677 Church Street, Marietta, GA, (770) 793-5000.

ILLNESS

We will take every precaution to safeguard your child against illness. However, most children experience a normal number of infections. In such cases, we provide a quiet area, adjacent to the front desk, where our staff will comfort your child until you can come and take your child home or to the physician.

If your child appears ill, has a high fever, is vomiting, or shows evidence of a communicable disease, please do not bring him/her to the school. If you child has such symptoms and is present at Giggles Learning Center, you will be asked to pick him/her up immediately. This requirement is imposed by the State Department of Human Resources and is intended for the protection of all children. Children must be without fever for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before returning. As determined by the Director, it may be necessary for a previously ill child to present an approval for re-admittance signed by a physician.

Parents will receive written posted notification if a communicable disease is introduced into the school. Parents MUST notify the school immediately if their child contracts a communicable disease. Children with a communicable disease cannot attend the school and will not be re-admitted without written permission from a physician. Giggles Learning Center refers to the Department of Resources' Current Communicable Disease chart for exclusion of sick children from the school and will follow the Department's recommended procedures. The Current Communicable Disease chart is posted near the front desk.

MEDICINE

The staff will administer medicine upon written authorization only by the parent. Written authorization may be made using the standard Giggles Learning Center medication form. In each case the parent should complete, sign, and date the form and deliver it, with the labeled medicine, to the Director.

STATE LAW REQUIRE THAT ALL MEDICINES MUST BE:

  • In the original container
  • clearly labeled with the name of the medicine
  • clearly labeled with your child's name
  • if a prescription, labeled with a prescription number
  • clearly labeled with the dosage to be administered
  • clearly labeled with the date
The school will notify you in case of any adverse reaction to the medication

REGISTRATION FEE

A registration fee shall be charged for each child at the time of enrollment. Please inquire for our current fee.

SAFETY

RELEASE OF CHILD TO OTHERS: Under no circumstances will Giggles Learning Center release a child to anyone not identified or not otherwise known to staff, without specific authorization from the parent. Parents are asked to check their children in and out electronically utilizing Giggles Learning Center's unique password protected security system that automatically records each child's arrival and departure. In addition, parents are asked that they be certain the staff is aware of the child's arrival and departure into and out of the classroom. Parents must escort their child into and out of the school when dropping off or picking up. Giggles Learning Center will not allow any child to enter or leave without an adult escort.

FIRE AND EMERGENCY: Your child's safety is utmost in our minds. Our school is equipped with an electronically monitored fire alarm system, fire sprinklers, security cameras, flood lights on the outside of the building and emergency exit lights over all exit doors. Safety is emphasized regularly in our staff meetings and in all classrooms. Fire and emergency evacuation drills are conducted periodically. The emergency evacuation plan and diagram is posted in each room. In the unlikely event the school is ever severely damaged and considered unsafe, plans are made in advance to evacuate to a safe location nearby. Should such an emergency occur, the Director will notify you and post a notice at the school.

TRANSPORTATION: Our vehicles are designed to transport a limited number of children with safety belts for each child. They are equipped with a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit. A transportation checklist is used each time the children enter or exit the vehicle. Each child's medical record, name, address, phone number, and emergency numbers are on record in the vehicle with the staff person in charge. our vehicles are routinely inspected to insure proper maintenance and they are inspected daily before they are driven. All staff members who qualify to drive the vehicles have the proper license, current C.P.R. and First Aid Training, and have been tested in road safety.

TUITION

The tuition is determined on an annual basis, payable weekly and due in advance on Monday morning of each week. Our general policy is to adjust our fees annually, if necessary. Parents will receive at least a month's notice, in writing, of any fee adjustment.

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are an exciting opportunity for your child to learn more about the community or enjoy recreation away from the school. These adventures for the Pre-K 4 through School Age children are planned and announced to you in advance of the date. You must give written permission for each trip on a Field Trip Permission Form. With prior notice and arrangements, parents are invited and encouraged to join us on any trip. We schedule fun field trips for our school-age children when school is not in session on holiday or teacher work days! On inclement weather days, we schedule a fun day of crafts, movies and games.
